GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION

This role will focus on all aspects of HR functions including, to assist the Head of HR (HOHR) to administer Human Resource Policies and practices to ensure the availability of adequate and effective human resources and assist HOHR to carry out appropriate Training and development programs to meet the current and future challenges of a demanding global market whilst maintaining fairness, discipline and effective employee relations. And this role need to assist HOHR to ensure all employee welfare facilities are maintained as per the expected levels and adherence to CSR requirements to comply with local/international labour laws. In addition, the role will assist HOHR with operational HR matters at the local level, and assistance / advice on industrial relations issues. This role will help implementation of Compensation and benefits policies of all categories and of employees at Ansell Textiles Lanka.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Leadership and Direction:-

Ensure the subordinate staff know and understand their duties and responsibilities and are provided with necessary means and training in order to meet their position objectives. Lead, direct and delegate authority and responsibility as necessary for them to achieve this.

2. Strategic Planning:-

Assist HOHR to determine short, medium and long-term objectives, budget and capital expenditure proposals for the manufacturing operations.

3. Planning and Recruitment:-

Assist HOHR to formulate and recommend pro-active policies and objectives which will ensure that sufficient human resources are recruited, trained and developed to provide a motivated, competent and effective workforce, which will meet the corporate need in the short, medium and long-term.

4. Employee Relations:-

To provide positive leadership in developing and implementing industrial relations procedures and practices, that will help towards harmonious relationship and minimize the risk of third party intervention and lost time through industrial disputes. Introduce quality of work life, welfare and effective communication programmes which improve moral, lead to a committed workforce and minimize absenteeism and turnover.

5. Employee Compensation and Benefits:-

Ensure all legal requirements are met with regard to employment, working conditions, wage and salary administration, deductions, and payment to such bodies as EPF, ETF and any other statutory requirements. To assist HOHR to participate in Salary Surveys for benchmarking and to Grading and Titling of all positions at Ansell Lanka.

6. Performance Appraisals:-

Ensure proper and meaningful performance appraisal systems are in place at each appropriate level, which will identify the strength of employees to overcome, identified weakness, shortcomings or needs. Ensure that appraisals play a meaningful and effective role in remuneration, benefit and management development programmes and selection procedures.

7. Welfare Facilities & Employee Engagement:-

Ensure all welfare facilities are maintained as per the expected level by the organization, local & international laws.

8. Discipline: –

Ensure that all employees are educated on the discipline procedures of the Company through the preparation, updating and distribution of the Company manuals and monitoring of the discipline of employees in collaboration with the Line Managers. In case of breach of discipline, conducting the disciplinary inquiries or any further action that has to be taken as directed by the higher management.

9. Industrial Relations:-

Prepare for and conduct Industrial Relations negotiations and Worker Committee / Employees Management Programmes in order to maintain industrial harmony and promote social dialogues. Assist HOHR to identify problems, potential problems and action required. Work closely with Line and Management to achieve and co-ordinate, cohesive and pre-emptive approach to this.

10. CSR

Ensure employee working hours, overtime, rest day work and all other CSR related requirements are complying as per the company policies according to the local and international laws.

11. Risk Management: –

Ensure all Human Resource Department personnel and assets are adequately safeguarded, and only safe working practices and conditions are allowed and provided. Ensure that positive steps are taken to minimize or to eliminate the risk of injury to employees.

12. Reporting and Recording: –

Ensure reports and statistical information are prepared and submitted on a timely basis which gives a true and factual of the Human Resources operations activities.

Ensure all relevant personal records meet Company or legal requirements are maintained on a timely and accurate basis and are constantly updated to ensure their viability.

13. Legalities: –

Ensure that all business activities conducted both personally and by subordinates comply with all Sri Lankan legal requirements and the highest environmental and ethical business standards as defined by Ansell Textiles Limited.

14. Other:

Responsible to conduct IQA’s (Internal Quality Audits) on Company Quality system. Responsible to maintain 5S and safety requirements of the department.

Compliance with EHS standards.
• Maintain compliance with all internal and external EHS rules, regulations and other Risk Management requirements.
• Actively use the safety calendar (or contribute to the activities prescribed in the supervisor’s/manager’s calendar) as an accountability tool to measure safety performance and to promote the development of a EHS culture.
• Follow the requirements of the 5-point safety charter.

Compliance with QMS system
• Ensure that processes are delivering their intended outputs with complying to the ATL-QMS & responsible to implement, maintain & continuous development in relevant processes in accordance with ATL-QMS.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualification, Knowledge and experience
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or relevant Field.
• 5+ years of experience in HR, 2+ years of which are in a leadership capacity required.
