Job Description

As a Cost Accountant , you will be responsible for the meticulous update and maintenance of the fixed asset register. This critical task involves various components, such as incorporating new asset items into the register, overseeing the processes of depreciation, disposal, and trade-ins.

What do you need to succeed?
3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
Hands-on experience working with US clients preferred
1-2 years of experience working as a Bookkeeper, preferred
Demonstrating effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
QuickBooks Certified, along with experience in other cloud accounting apps (such as Bill.com and ReceiptBank), preferred
Proficiency in advanced Excel/GSuite
Ability to interact with clients
High school diploma required
Above-average communication skills, able to communicate with clients directly
Autonomy in the role
Excellent understanding of US tax legislation, especially for individuals and companies
Good understanding of the client’s accounting systems, e.g., QuickBooks, CRM, Intuit ProConnect
Able to onboard new clients for accounting: Setup new QuickBooks accounts, setup COA, record beginning balances using prior year tax return
Able to clean up accounting records for new clients, if needed.
What awaits you in this role?
Update and maintain the fixed asset register, including adding new asset items, processing depreciation, disposal, and trade-ins.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including tax, loan, and bank account reconciliation.
Demonstrate the ability to prepare a list of queries for the supervisor, manager, and/or client’s attention. The quality of queries should be at an advanced level.
Prepare and complete monthly/quarterly financial statements and tax returns.
Prepare and file sales tax returns.
Reconcile payroll entries.
Perform the month-end close process.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Assist with the year-end close process.
Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances (this service may not be offered to all clients; at most, it may be for one or two clients).
Demonstrate the ability to prepare a list of queries for the supervisor, manager, and/or client’s attention.
