Research and Development Executive

Job description
We are looking for a Research & Development Executive to plan and execute all assigned packaging / process development activities including new packaging development, improvement of existing packaging, cost engineering of current packaging structures, develop new processes in order to meet the innovation and renovations objectives of the company.

What you would be doing:
• Identify gaps in packaging designs and assess opportunities for new product launches / relaunches in consultation with Marketing and other cross functional teams
• Review & Re-engineer existing packaging continuously – to keep up with the innovations & trends in the market and drive cost efficiency
• Collaborate with regional/ global expert teams in order to deliver best packaging designs and Sustainable Packaging workstream in line with Packaging Compliance Process
• Plan and execute all Packaging related projects for Sri Lanka and Integrated Supply Chain – Emerging Markets and ensure completion on time.
• Own and manage technical documentation related to Packaging Specifications and Artwork Development
• Analyse trends and developments in local and global dairy market to generate new Packaging ideas proactively to expand our business, to strengthen our brands or to improve profitability

Here’s what we are looking for:
• Bachelor’s Degree in recognized local or foreign university in the field of Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or Nutrition or Agriculture degrees Major in Food Science and Technology.
• Certificate/ Diploma in Packaging, or work experience in developing packaging
• 3-5 years’ experience leading and holding direct responsibility for Packaging development, new product development, product renovations and process improvements in the Food and Beverage Manufacturing / Consumer Goods industry.
• 2-3 years’ experience as a R&D/ NPD project lead, working with cross functional (and global teams).
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
