Background

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) is a National Chapter of Transparency International (TI), the leading global movement against corruption. TISL raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

This position is expected to lead the private sector program initiatives while advocating for reduction of private sector corruption.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The post holder will be responsible for project implementation and to lead the organizational objective of reducing private sector corruption. He/ She will be responsible to manage project budgets under multiple donors while collaborating effectively with other teams in TISL to implement relevant projects to reach organizational objectives.

Responsibilities:

Program Management
• Ensure the implementation of all activities and the achievement of results envisaged under the private sector pillar of the Strategic Plan.
• Ensure project implementation with special attention to quality of program delivery, maximum reach, impact and timeliness.
• Conduct workshops, events, programs, trainings and outreach activities that fall within the program pillar, according to the program implementation plan.
• Effective utilization of resources following donor guidelines.
• Liaise with donors as instructed by management.
• Ensure program KPIs are met.
• Escalate information or issues as necessary to take relevant action in a timely manner.
• Ensure program results, impact and learning are captured effectively and shared.
• Provide relevant and timely information for periodic reporting.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion in program implementation.
• Act as focal point for assigned projects.
• Develop and implement advocacy and communications campaigns pertaining to the private sector.

Program Development

Contribute to program development and fundraising initiatives of the organization through desk research, and assist in drafting concept notes and/or proposals as required.

Management of resources, staff and stakeholders
• Network with relevant stakeholders and maintain effective relationships.
• Provide effective representation for the organization at relevant fora as guided by the Senior Management.
• Effective management of organizational resources.

Human Resource Management
• Select, manage and develop the staff members within the Private Sector, establishing goals, coaching and managing performance and supporting the continuous learning, development and well‐being that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.
• Provide clear direction to guide the team towards organizational objectives with proper delegation.

Thematic Specific Objectives

In line with the 2021‐2025 strategic plan, be responsible to facilitate the enhancement of private sector accountability by leading the private sector team to:
• Initiate and maintain a discourse on accountability of the private sector.
• Develop / facilitate mechanisms and networks within the private sector to focus on accountability.
• Advocate for greater legal accountability of the private sector.
• Tackle grand corruption.
• Act as the focal point for, and support the effective and efficient implementation of assigned projects.
• Inculcate expertise in the thematic areas.
• Contribute towards strategy development and link the organizational strategic plan to thematic

interventions and stakeholders.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Humanities, Business

Administration, Governance or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of similar level experience in either the public, private or civil society sector.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
• Networks and contacts in the Private Sector.
• Experience in project management and budget management.
• Sound understanding of the anti-corruption and governance sector in Sri Lanka.
• Diplomacy and tactful negotiation skills.
• Excellent management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English as well as Sinhalese or Tamil.
• Excellent skills in MS office.
