Job Description

Meet Benevity

Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Sri Lanka and more! Our Product Design team is expanding and offers exciting roles for Product Designers across various initiatives. With a robust product vision, we aim to spark daily acts of goodness among clients, employees, customers, and charitable causes. Our culture is driven by our core value of “we-are-we” and as a Product Designer you will work in an outcome-driven environment where collaboration with your product, design and engineering counterparts is paramount. If you’re eager to make a difference and thrive in a collaborative setting, we invite you to join our team!

What you’ll do:

● Work collaboratively with your Product Manager and Engineering peers to uncover and design solutions to our varied product challenges.

● Using the Benevity Design System, Skyline, create low- to high-fidelity prototypes and mockups that meet our high-quality standards.

● Conduct UX research, such as usability testing, to ensure your solutions meet the needs of our users.

● Uphold the highest standards of accessibility and inclusiveness in your product area.

● Actively participate in ongoing planning activities with your team. You ensure that work flowing into the team accurately captures acceptance criteria.

● Build strong, inclusive, collaborative relationships with peers, including designers, product managers, developers, and other cross-functional team members.

● Contribute thoughtfully to building an inclusive environment for everyone.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

We’re looking for a UX / UI Product Designer with a flair for creating impactful software as a service product in the consumer or enterprise domain. We value diversity in experience and understand that expertise is more than just measured by years. We’re interested in someone whose skills and experiences resonate with the following:

● 6+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer

● A strong portfolio showcasing your UX and UI design skills and examples of your proven experience designing products that achieve tangible outcomes.

● You can demonstrate your ability to use various design methods (workshop facilitation, design sprints, exploratory research, or usability testing) to get the most out of all phases of the design process.

● You can demonstrate your skill in using the correct design pattern for the right platform, whether native mobile or responsive web.

● You can demonstrate a well-crafted visual aesthetic, an eye for pattern recognition, and an eye for detail.

● You have strong communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to lead and the humility to adapt.

● Experience creating solutions that meet WCAG Accessibility compliance and other inclusive design principles

● You are comfortable leading meetings and facilitating workshops.

● You are a cultural contributor and mentor to others.

● You are an expert user of Figma but can also adapt and use the right design tool at the right time to generate insights, high and low-fidelity prototypes, and developer-ready documentation.

● A curiosity-driven approach, valuing feedback and inclusivity

What to expect:

● Be a part of a product experience team that is distributed around the globe that genuinely cares for each other and the work we do – we are a very supportive and empathetic group

● Volunteering and granting are surprisingly complex and rewarding problem spaces in which to work.

● Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams around the world.

● To become a better product designer and have a tangible impact on the world here at Benevity.

● Focus on outcomes, not output. Creating more acts of goodness in the world guides everything we do.

Portfolio requirements:

As part of the application process, please provide a link to your portfolio. Your portfolio should include information about you as a designer and some examples of your work. Portfolios can be in the form of a website, Figma prototype link, slide deck, or PDF. Please ensure that the portfolio accurately reflects your contributions to the work being shown.
