Manager – Civil Engineering (Thulhiriya)

MAS Fabric Park is Sri Lanka’s first privately owned apparel intensive free trade zone. Its operations focus primarily on the development and value addition of fabrics. The Park plays a strategic role in the vertical integration of the MAS supply chain.

Embark on a journey of change with MAS, by joining the Fabric Park team as a Manager Civil Engineering. Through this role you will be responsible to oversee and manage various civil engineering projects including new construction, expansions and renovations – from conception to completion on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. To do this you will require to have strong project management skills, technical knowledge of civil engineering and be able to coordinate and oversee all aspects of the project, including design, procurement, tendering, evaluation, construction, quality assurance and commissioning.

Key responsibilities:
• Liaise with Manufacturing Managers and stakeholders to developing project plans, defining project scope, objectives, and timelines, establishing project budgets. Provide guidance, technical solutions such as Auto CAD, drafting drawings and layouts to facilitate implementation of new projects.
• Develop, manage and review project critical path whilst ensuring that the project is on target, variances are reported, and corrective action taken in order to deliver the project on time and within budget
• Ensure project priorities (including the project cost estimation and Capital expenditure) are agreed and reviewed with the senior management, are in line with business needs and opportunities whilst communicating progress of project with relevant parties when required.
• Liaise with suppliers, evaluate quotations, award contracts and agree on timelines, priorities and resolution of any conflicts in order to facilitate on time project completion in a cost-effective manner.
• Obtain required approvals from the relevant authorities and government institutions ensuring that the projects meet all compliance aspects and also Green building features as applicable.
• Planning and executing strategies for completion of projects within the project timeline.
• Planning and executing strategies for completion of projects below the budget without compromising the quality
• Reviewing all related drawings, details, specifications and standards of the projects and correctly incorporate Mechanical and Electrical systems work and providing clear, concise instructions to the team.
• Researching and developing innovative approaches to improve the park ambience while optimizing the operational cost.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Master of Business Administration or Equivalent professional qualification will be added advantage
• 5+ years hands on experience on Civil Engineering
• Language Proficiency in English and Sinhalese
• IT Literate and numerical skills
