With the expansion in scope and depth of our data driven ambition and the increased focus by regulators on data privacy, we need specialist resources who will support markets in driving global and local standards on data collection, privacy related obligations, and establish an authentic source of the consumer and employee data inventory in the market.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
Drive Standards and Best Practices:
• Adapt and customise global data governance and privacy standards for local markets to meet local regulations and local marketing goals.
• Build a clear view of data ownership in the market, which clarifies the roles and responsibilities of Data custodians, Processors, Analysts, Advisors, Users, and Third-party providers.
• Work with regional/global teams (Data Governance, Privacy, IT, ETS, UC) to create repeatable processes and tools which can be leveraged by markets.
• Develop operational and technical procedures, standards and playbooks to the market in partnership with IT and DPO, and provide ongoing support.
Develop Privacy and Governance Controls:
• Determine specific technical controls required to protect data from accidental or deliberate misuse.
• Analyse and evaluate new data processing activities from a privacy and data optimisation perspective.
• Work with local data leaders to frame and shape a data strategy with specific inputs on governance controls.
• Support markets to overcome challenges and open opportunities to drive data-marketing locally.
• Create/ Approve new/updated data maps and data flows for business functions processing personal data.
• Consider any data localization requirements regarding international transfers of personal data.
• Validates the final elements of the data capture forms and consent, including options to opt out through preference center, in accordance with Unilever policies and local law.
Advisory and Ongoing Support:
• Provide expert technical and procedural advice and solutions to data governance and management challenges.
• Analyse upcoming regulations with global and local privacy teams and legal teams to determine the risk assessed position for compliance.
• Act as a main point of contact for data governance issues to the centralised business, decentralised businesses, and for e-commerce ventures.
Ongoing Compliance and Governance Monitoring:
• Conduct a Data Governance Maturity Assessment regularly and drive markets to meet or maintain a higher level of maturity (minimum of Gold).
• Develop and maintain a maturity status of the markets and produce reports for the Data Governance Working and Steering Group.
• Conduct regular training programmes and workshops with marketers in markets to improve capabilities for collecting and using consumer data.
• Support business owners in completing privacy risk assessments (PRAs) and help determine privacy risks.
• Ensure that all business functions processing personal data are following SOPs and related guidelines.
• Ensure that retention policy is implemented through Unilever systems.
• Ensure the Unilever mechanisms like enterprise consent, Gigiya and brand pages are in line with Unilever policies and local law.
• Ensure that all business functions capturing/using personal data are aware and accountable for their privacy responsibilities (e.g. transparency, access control and security)
• Attend and contribute to local Data Council meetings.
• Support the business to efficiently contain and remediate data breaches.
• Responsible for process excellence in data governance.
Data Stewardship and Lifecycle Management:
• Define and implement data stewardship programs, assigning responsibilities and fostering a culture of data ownership across the organization.
• Implement data lifecycle management processes, including data classification, retention policies, and secure data disposal.
• Deliver training programs to enhance data governance awareness and competency among employees.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Experiences & Qualifications
Candidate should:
• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
• Possess familiarity with ISO/IEC 27001.
• Have 5-6 years of experience in working within digital and data marketing functions, ideally in monitoring and reporting performance, Data Governance and Management roles.
• Have strong understanding of Data Quality, Metadata management, and Data Stewardship principles.
• Have prior experience in implementing Data Governance tools and technologies.
• Have understanding of consumer data and its use in Data Driven Marketing, and the technologies which underpin it.
• Have understanding of the end-to-end Consumer Data Lifecycle: Data Collection, Profiling, Cloud Storage, CRM platforms, and Architecture.
• Possess the technical understanding of Digital platforms (i.e. web, social, mobile).
• Have understanding of privacy issues and data marketing technologies and solutions.
• Possess working knowledge of data protection and privacy and new laws and regulations including the GDPR, e-Privacy Directive, Personal Data Protection Act, etc.
• Possess working knowledge of Data Security and its application within a marketing business.
