Job description
The Head of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, planning, and management of the organization. This position ensures robust financial governance, drives strategic decision-making, and aligns financial operations with the organization’s business objectives. Additionally, the role includes overseeing the operations department to ensure the seamless integration of financial and operational strategies for optimal efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

· Develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals.

· Provide strategic recommendations to the GM and board of directors.

· Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning.

Financial Management

· Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance.

· Ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

· Manage cash flow, liquidity, and investment strategies to optimize financial performance.

Risk Management

· Assess and manage financial risks, including currency, interest rate, and credit risks.

· Implement internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and maintain the integrity of financial systems.

· Oversee external audits and liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies.

Operations Oversight

· Supervise and provide strategic direction to the operations department, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and alignment with financial objectives.

· Collaborate with operations leaders to drive process improvements, cost optimization, and streamlined workflows.

· Ensure integration of operational strategies with overall financial and business objectives.

Team Leadership

· Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team.

· Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance function.

Business Collaboration

· Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.

· Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and propose corrective actions.

· Lead cost optimization and efficiency initiatives across the organization.

Stakeholder Management

· Prepare and present financial reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to the board and investors.

· Manage relationships with banks, investors, and other financial partners.

Qualifications

Education

· B.Sc. in Accountancy & Finance , MBA is added advantage.

. Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka or Qualification of CIMA or ACCA

Experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven expertise in financial strategy, forecasting, and budget management.
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing preferred.

Skills
• Strong knowledge of financial management systems and tools.
• In-depth understanding of tax regulations, compliance, and financial reporting standards (e.g., IRD, etc).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
